Frequently asked questions
What exactly is The Insights Lab?
The Insights Lab is a monthly journal club for coaches who want to deepen their understanding of evidence-based practice. It’s a space to explore, present, and discuss psychological and coaching research in an applied, conversational format.
How often does it meet?
We meet once a month, on the first Monday of each month, beginning January 5th.
Who is it for?
It’s designed for practicing coaches, trainees, and graduates who want to stay informed, strengthen their research literacy, and keep their coaching grounded in evidence.
How long are the sessions?
Each session lasts approximately 120 minutes, allowing time for presentations, discussions, and reflection.
What happens during a typical session?
Each month, one or more participants present a research study, their own findings, or a relevant topic. We then explore how to apply it to coaching practice and how it might be used to create educational or marketing materials.
Do I have to present?
Presenting is optional. You can simply attend, listen, and contribute to discussions until you feel ready to share your own presentation.
What kind of research can I present?
Any evidence-based topic related to coaching, psychology, communication, leadership, or human development. You can also bring your own research or case studies, provided they’re grounded in solid methodology.
Will I get support in preparing my presentation?
Yes. You’ll have access to guidance and examples on how to present research effectively and how to translate findings into practical, coach-relevant insights.
Is this a formal academic course?
No — it’s an informal, professional learning community. There are no grades or assessments, just shared learning and reflective discussion.
What are the main benefits of joining?
You’ll stay research-informed, grow your presentation and critical thinking skills, learn to turn research into practical tools, collaborate with peers, and strengthen your professional confidence as a coach.
Are sessions recorded?
Yes. Each session is recorded and made available as both a video and audio file, along with session notes and highlights. This way, you can revisit key discussions and insights even if you miss a live meeting.
Can I download the recordings?
Recordings are available for streaming only on our platform for the duration of your membership. This helps protect the privacy of all participants.
If you are the presenter, you may request a copy of your presentation segment for your personal or professional use.
I subscribed before January — will I lose those two months before the first live session?
Not at all. Your 183-day free trial begins from the moment you join. Even before the first live session in January, you’ll have access to a range of preparatory materials on our platform — including guidance on how to present research, suggested studies to explore, and examples of how to turn findings into practical or promotional materials. Think of it as your head start before the live discussions begin.
What kind of materials are available on the platform?
You’ll find a curated collection of research guides, presentation tutorials, suggested reading lists, and templates for creating learning or marketing materials based on evidence-based insights. These resources are designed to help you get the most out of The Insights Lab, whether you’re preparing to present or simply deepening your research literacy.
